I found Heather Pasternak’s comedy at a particular time in my life when I was having ~boy troubles~ and needed a pick-me-up. I would have to stifle my laughter as I repeatedly listened to her relatable jokes at my internship. Shout out to all my friends who I made watch her set and referenced nonstop.
Pasternak is based in LA and is a writer, actress, cat enthusiast, and comedian. She performs throughout LA and has her own Fat Cat Comedy show. Sadly, I live in North Carolina and haven’t been able to see her perform yet – but I am excited for the day I do!
So this means when I reference her sets, I am referencing the two sets posted on her website. One is her first performance on Stephen Colbert, and the other is a set at an LA club. Her jokes are often self deprecating and relationship based (from what I can gather from her two sets), but they’re smart and not only well written, but well performed. At the start of some jokes the audience might be laughing at her, but by the end they’re always laughing with her. She has a great control of getting the crowd on her side and navigating a room.
